Product Details

Original Items: Only One Grouping Available. This is a lovely pair of jackets named and attributed to Lieutenant Colonel C.E. Hinckley, identified by his name being present on the New Zealand made leather flight jacket. No service information has turned up regarding Lt. Col. Hinckley, making this pairing an excellent research opportunity!

While the A-2 jacket is not painted, it is a rarity to come across an original and complete example. Jacket is in approximate size US 44 and has retained all original components including original knit waist band and sleeve cuffs, something we often see replaced on A-2 jackets that saw extensive service. Also original is the TALON brand zipper which is stiff but functional. Both epaulets have a silver Lieutenant Colonel oak leaf.

The interior lining does have some minor tearing and stitching loss present, so do handle it with care. The top rear back portion of the liner no longer retains the hanging strap or tag.

The other leather jacket is named to Hinckley on the interior tag. The tag reads as the jacket having been manufactured by the Manawatu Canvas Co. Ltd., a New Zealand based company known for their high quality canvas and leather products. The jacket does not have knit cuffs like the A-2 but instead cuff and waistband buttons similar to the British leather jackets of the day. All buttons do appear to be present and are still functionally attached. Both shoulder straps have a beautiful bullion imitation pattern Lieutenant Colonel oak leaves. The interior lining is thin green wool that is similar to the green issued Army blankets but not as thick. The lining does appear to still be completely attached.

An incredible pair of jackets with great research potential! Comes more than ready for further research and display!
